So, Jenny Beavan who made ultra-cool costumes for Mad Max won and ACCEPTED her award sans spanx and heels and women (and men) were thrilled. Me too, and I freakin’ love her scarf. I’m not one for leather, but the bejeweled jacket was gorgeous, although I bet it was uncomfortable to lean against a chair. Women’s fashions often put form over function and for me that’s not acceptable. If you want to be a “great” designer, give us BOTH.
There’s some controversy (supposed) that “men” were shocked by her appearance. I tend to believe Julianne Adams explanation for that here, and quite honestly, I’m not sure how much I’d be clapping after sitting for that long either. I’m a shy clapper, but an occasional “wooter” when I’m really pleased.
However, there’s a part of me that would love to see men pull off stilettos and a pencil skirt daily. In that vein, this Gorilla Gripper commercial is awesome. Seriously – wait until 55 seconds for the payoff.
